Overcoming the Pressures of becoming a Gold Medalist

Mikaela Shiffrin won the gold at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Since then, she has struggled with pressure, anxiety and even barfing before her races. Owning a business brings a lot of those same pressures. She is quoted saying, “It’s heavy”. I can relate to that, it’s heavy owning a business.

Here are some strategies that Mikaela uses to overcome her anxiety:

  1. Don’t be afraid of what others think. People are going to say what they’re going to say. If they talk about you, consider it an honor.
  2. Remember who you are. Mikaela has “I AM” written on her gloves to remind her that she is valuable, worth being at the Olympics and amazing in her own unique ways.
  3. Be the same person you have always been. Don’t change because you have won Gold. Enjoy life like you always have.

If you would like strategies like this to help you overcome the pressures of being a business owner, LifePoint has a tool called The I AM exercise, email me and I will send it to you free of charge.

Congratulations to Mikaela for winning the gold last night!
